From October 7-11, 2019, we held our meeting in Portugal, Living on an Island. Titled “From the Sea to the Mountains“, we were delighted to welcome our partners from Latvia, Finland, Italy and Turkey.
On the first day, the partners were welcomed in the school with the traditional “Bailinho da Madeira”.
Followed a small performance of all our students as a way to commemorate the 600 years of the discovery of Madeira. In this piece of musical theater, was portrayed the discovery of Porto Santo and Madeira, as well as some of the most emblematic local traditions.
The participants were then welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Câmara de Lobos and, after lunch, visited the city and some of its tourist sites.
On the second day, in the morning, there was a visit to the Innovative Learning Environments classroom where the partners were able to attend a lecture on the methodologies and tools used in a multidisciplinary approach to teaching, with the use of technology. During the afternoon, it was time to take a stroll along the north coast of the island.
On the third day, we visited the classrooms and the participants were greeted with traditional songs from each partner country. The afternoon was a stroll through Funchal (cable car, visit to Monte Palace Garden and descent in the traditional baskets).
On the fourth day of the meeting, the morning was spent visiting Pico do Areeiro and a walk in Vereda dos Balcões. In the afternoon we visited the Madeira Theme Park to learn a little about the Madeiran culture and history.
On the fifth and final day of our meeting, participants attended an emotive and funny lecture with storyteller Leda Pestana. It followed a musical moment with some elements of the band “Os Infantes”.
